In the gym you regret every minute of playing defense – it's uncomfortable, frustrating and unexciting. When the chips are down however, and you're in the battle of your life against a very dangerous opponent, you will relish the memory of every minute you spent working defense and wish only that you'd spent even more time in those uncomfortable, frustrating and unexciting positions. Don't skimp on defense – you only learn it's value when you really need – and by then it's too late. Know it's value early on and you will have a real advantage over your peers
